I often thought about how my life (and schedule) would change, since i didn’t really know anything about this.
When baby came along, things were off to a good start. I was at home with my baby for about 2 months.
When the time came to go back to school in August i panicked. i needed to buy a breast pump and learn how to use it, when to use it, how much to pump.. you get the picture.
Throughout the semester i was pumping before lecture class, during my breaks, at lunchtime, before catching the train back home, during my clinical rotations in the hospital.
I often thought about weaning my daughter because life would be so much easier on me. Should i wean just to make my life easier? was i thinking of just myself? My daughter didn’t really like formula but drank it anyway because i’m sure she was hungry enough.
I decided i can deal with this a little while longer.. maybe another month or so. Another month turned into a couple of more months. I figured i can go this far, why not do it for another month? This was my strategy.. to do it a month to month basis. well, I did it. THe semester finished and i survived.
Here we are, almost 2 years later and still at it 🙂 We are loving our nursing relationship. Yes, i still get those looks from people.. but who cares. I’m doing it for us. No one else matter.
I think back at all the times i wanted to just quit but i see my little angel looking up at me.
I don’t regret it for a second 🙂
