Jennifer’s breastfeeding after bottlefeeding story
(Colorado Springs, CO, USA)
I have had 4 kids and I didn’t decide to start breastfeeding until my 3rd baby. I really had no idea what to except, I went to one class but it still didn’t prepare me enough. When my son was born, I tried to start him right away because that’s what I was told to do. He couldn’t latch on and I had no idea what to do. I was very frustrated. Finally, we got the hang of things, but that didn’t mean that it wasn’t uncomfortable.
I’m not going to lie, I was really ready to give up, but I didn’t want to because I heard that breastfeeding is so great for the baby.
I kept going and finally things were great! Instead of hurting, it was now a great feeling! It made me feel so close to him.
I breastfed him for about 6 months and only quit because I had to because of some medical problems at the moment.
I had my 4th baby this year and it was a piece of cake with her! We had no problems at all! I’m still feeding her and she is now 7 months old and I really don’t have plans of stopping for at least 3 more months. She loves it, because she is close to me and I love it because I feel like it made us have a really strong bond thus far.
I really regret not breastfeeding my first 2 children.
